This is a great place to learn the fundamentals of art as well as to develop and hone the skills of practicing artists. Life drawing and painting is the doorway to almost all other forms of art. As Picasso said: “Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist.” The importance of a solid foundation in drawing is reinforced by the great artist Ingres when he said: “Drawing includes three and a half quarters of the content of painting… Drawing contains everything, except the hue.”

Whether you are interested in Fine Art, Animation, Comics, or doing art as a hobby, Westlake Academy can get you going on the right foot. Get the coaching you need to pursue whatever direction you choose in art. Just like in music where one needs to learn notes, scales and chords et cetera to play successfully; Art is the same thing. It is not just a gift or talent. Much of what is done in Art can be learned and taught. Good teachers make a great difference.

George Paliotto is a professional working artist and educator.  He founded Westlake Academy of Art to provide a place for the training of students who want to pursue their craft and increase their skills in visual art.  George also teaches painting and drawing at California Lutheran University. He continues to do portrait commissions and sell his work in galleries and shows across the country.  

We have a strong desire to work with high school, college age and adult students and provide a valuable learning environment for all to thrive. The subjects taught include:

• Life Drawing
